Beat the Heat is back again, bigger and better than ever before. This year we will have a bouldering competition with crazy, hard, and devious problems set by our own Jeremy Hardin. The will be plenty of clinics to attend if you are not interested in competing. We plan to have a clinic from Evolv. If you have a question regarding the equipment that you use to climb then you don't want to miss the Hardware Clinic. As always we will have free food and beer in the evening. The best part of all and the reason you should not miss this event is that Beat the Heat is free for our members and only $10 for non-members. Now you have no reason not to be there and enjoy the biggest boldest climbing event that Sportrock hosts. Beat the Heat 4 will be held on August 16th 2008. Doors open at 2:00pm and the competition begins at 3:00pm. Clinics are happening throughout the day and a full schedule of events will be posted in the forum soon. Sportrock Head Route Setter at Worlds

A big congratulations to our own head setter Jeremy Hardin for taking the opportunity to set at the World Cup Competition in Vail, CO. The World Cup was held June 5th through the 8th. Climbers from around the world got a chance to see what Sportrock boulder problems are all about. The problems were super hard and designed to test the climbers both mentally and physically. Sportrock is proud of Jeremy and all of his accomplishments.

New Policies!!!

Beginning June 1st there will be no loose chalk or Alpine Harnesses permitted in the gyms. Sportrock has decided to ban loose chalk to help reduce the dust in the air. This should help us all to breath a little better without gasping for air and getting a lung full of chalk. Also to keep in pace with industry standards we will no longer allow the use of alpine harnesses at Sportrock. These harnesses place unnecessary stress on the carabiner when used to belay. We are committed to having a safe and enjoyable climbing place for everyone so thanks for abiding by our new policies.

Testimonials

Jim did a great job on Sunday.  He focused on safety and fundamentals.  At the end of the class I felt confident that I could do a good job setting up an anchor.
