The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Sportrock is proud to be an annual participant in this program.
In 2013 Sportrock had the pleasure of working with Special Olympics Virginia for their annual rappel event and fundraiser. In addition to hosting the kick-off event, Sportrock employees volunteered alongside the Over the Edge team to oversee a 100ft rappel off of the Hilton in Crystal City.
The mission of the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation is to stop the loss of women from ovarian cancer by promoting Health, Empowerment, Research, and Awareness. Bone Marrow transplants are a major part of treatment for people living with Lukemia and other blood cancers, and finding the perfect match in a donor can be very difficult. In January of 2014 Sportrock joined with the Be The Match Foundation to host a Bone Marrow Donor Registry drive. Twenty-nine new potential donors were swabbed and their information was entered into the national registry so they can be matched with patients, and provide life-saving treatment.
