An adventurer at heart, Jonathan Lessin was the cardiac anesthesiology residency director at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, as well as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C. Jonathan was diagnosed with Parkinson's at age thirty-eight and received his Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) at age forty-three. He became a cyclist and avid sportsman just to prove he could, despite his diagnosis. In 2012, several years after his diagnosis, he voluntarily stepped into retirement to pursue life fulfillment. “I swear this is the last year we are doing this!” That was our team name in 2014 for the 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell. My partner, Chris Stoehrmann, and I really thought it would be our last year. It was going to be Chris's fifth year competing, and my fourth out of the last five years. I missed out in 2012 because my wife and I were road tripping overseas. It took Chris a little while, but he finally forgave me for missing out that year and took me back as his partner in 2013.
