Events

Girl Beta in Alexandria

Are you looking for an awesome group of women to climb with? Come learn some technique and try new problems in a judgment free zone! Every second Sunday the Sportrock Performance Institute will be hosting Girl Beta, a 90-minute event just for women, to connect and climb together!

Girl Beta will feature:

  • Technique clinic run by Ellie Sepulveda, World Cup competitor and Sportrock Youth Team Coach
  • Free for Sportrock members
  • A dedicated climbing space

Ask us questions, share your experiences, and RSVP to Girl Beta nights on our Facebook Page

American Alpine Club

Sportrock is proud to partner with the American Alpine Club to offer a series of educational clinics designed to get recreational climbers up to speed on best practices and the newest techniques.

Rappelling is one of the most dangerous parts of climbing. Join this 2 hour clinic to learn how to extend and back up your rappel, as well as best practices for single and double rope rappels. The clinic is free for Sportrock and AAC members, or $30 (including a Day Pass to stay and climb after the clinic).  AAC members who wish to stay and climb after the event may purchase a day pass for half-price.

Catalyst Sports: Adaptive Climbing

On the second from the last Sunday of almost every month from 4:30pm to 6:30pm Catalyst Sports sets up at Sportrock to teach an adaptive rock climbing clinic for people of any age living with a physical disability. Please note, this is not a program for people with intellectual, sensory, and/or behavioral challenges. They would be better suited for our Sensory Climbing event.

If you have any additional questions or are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Judith Erger, [email protected]

Sensory Friendly Climbing Hour at Sterling

On the first Sunday of every month from 9am to 10am the gym will be open exclusively to kids and families on the autism spectrum. The music and lights will be off (natural light only), and the gym will be a much more laid back experience. After 10am we are open and operational as usual, but of course, you are still free to stay as long as you like!

Email [email protected] with any additional questions.
